Pinpointe Laser

Initial Visit

We do charge a fee for the initial appointment to assess your suitability to be treated by the pinpointe Laser.  This is a medical appointment NOT a sales appointment as is the case generally when a free initial appointment is offered.

As qualified Podiatrists at Brighton Podiatry Foot Laser Clinic we provide a complete medical assessment of your nail condition. We do take any other medical conditions that a patient may have into consideration before deciding whether or not you are a good candidate for treatment with the Pinpointe Laser.  If have private medical insurance with extras you can claim this visit, we also have Hicaps so you can claim on the spot.

Assessment

We will take a complete and through medical history during the initial consultation we will also examine your nails to confirm whether or not your nail condition is caused by fungus. In some cases where some doubt exists a clipping of the nail may be taken and sent off for pathology. This is most important as some patients have been treated with laser when their condition was in fact caused by psoriasis or some other condition, it is most important that only onychomycosis is treated otherwise there will be no result to the Pinpointe Laser.

The Pinpointe Laser is only operated by Dr Greg Bastin it is not the sort of system that can or should be used by unqualified personnel. In some cases we will treat only nails that shows signs of infection in other cases we will treat 10 toenails regardless of appearance. This can be important to ensure that the condition does not return.
