How It Works
Pinpointe Footlaser
How it works
Onychomycosis is caused by several organisms the most common is Trichophyton rubrum the laser heats the organism until the point that it dies this is a fine balancing act too hot and the patient will be in an unacceptable amount of pain not enough heat ant the fungal organism will survive and hence the nail will remain infected. By using a pulsed laser along with a small spot size enough energy can be delivered to destroy the fungus and cause little pain.

Studies
Pinpoint have done more research than any other laser company to date the initial study involved 5 clinical sites and 458 toes were treated each with 2 passes of the laser the results were better than 70% clearance. The FDA subsequently cleared the laser for the treatment of onychomycosis. Since the original study it has become evident that more treatment cycles give better results.
